The US Academic Bee for the Elementary and Middle School divisions take place at our National Championships, held in the early summer.   Students are placed into 8th grade, 7th grade, 6th grade, or Elementary (5th grade and under) divisions.

Registration for Nationals begins in the spring.

At Nationals, the US Academic Bee is a buzzer-based quiz competition for individual students. Students compete against other students in a series of rounds where they attempt to be the first to ring in and answer paragraph-length questions about various topics. Each correct answer results in one point. If they reach 8 points, they are then finished for the round, but they earn up to 7 bonus points based on how quickly they reached 8 points. Students who finish high enough in preliminary round totals qualify for the finals to determine the National Champion.

The tournament is a trivia style question and answer competition. Students are scored based on the number of correct questions answered. See competition website for complete details.
