The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.
Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the program honors middle level and high school students for outstanding service to others at the local, state and national level.
Showcase volunteer activity that you have engaged in over the last 12 months prior to win recognition and awards from Prudential.
- Initiative: Did the applicant initiate the activity on his/her own, or demonstrate exceptional leadership or motivation in an existing activity?
- Effort: How much time and effort did the activity require? Did the applicant have to overcome significant obstacles?
- Impact: How much of a difference was made by the activity? Were a significant number of people affected, or were the lives of specific individuals impacted in a major way?
- Personal Growth: Did the applicant acquire insights or skills from the experience? Does the application reflect a sound understanding of the importance of serving others?

To be eligible, you must:
- be in grades 5-12 as of November 8
- be a legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C.
- have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the date of the application
