The National Innovator Challenge (NIC) is an annual, K-12, innovation competition that promotes and celebrates youth innovation in the United States. It is held virtually so that any student in the US has an opportunity to enter.
The world is constantly changing, and students may graduate to work in new job types and functions that currently don’t yet exist. Critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation are skills that are already in high demand.
The primary goal of the NIC is to give every child in the United States an opportunity to learn innovation skill through unstructured problem-solving activities that connect to core STEM standards.
- This challenge includes submissions of Ideas, Apps and Prototypes.
- K-12 (or equivalent) individual students or teams of up to three students may apply (At least one member of the team must reside in the United States).
- Individuals or teams may participate in this challenge regardless of earlier challenges they may have participated in, and they are permitted to make changes/improvements to their submissions (in fact we encourage this!).
- Registration and additional information is available on our website: https://nationalinnovatorchallenge.org/.
- Both cash and opportunity prizes will be awarded at the finale of the NIC.
- Select Top Innovators advance to the Global Innovation Challenge.
