The Middle Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MidMCM)® is an extension of the HiMCM designed to provide middle school/level age students 14 ½ years of age and younger with a modeling and problem-solving opportunity. Teams of up to four students apply middle school level mathematics to model, develop, and communicate a solution to a real-world problem. The contest offers a challenge for student teams to use and improve their applied mathematics and modeling skills, as well as written communication skills, while also developing valuable interpersonal skills through teamwork.

The Middle Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MidMCM)®, an international contest for middle school/level students, challenges teams of students to analyze, model, solve, and present solution reports to an open-ended application problem. Students form teams with up to four members to solve the contest problem. Each team may choose and submit an electronic solution to one of the two offered problems.

A distinguished group of international educators and professionals read and judge all submissions. Judging occurs in December and January with results posted by early February. Levels of awards for all valid submissions are Successful Participant, Honorable Mention, Meritorious, Finalist, or Outstanding Winner. Submissions found to have rule or procedure violations, or extremely inadequate solution efforts may be designated as Disqualified or Unsuccessful.
