MakeX Spark is a creative design competition program for young people aged 6 to 13. It encourages them to get involved in hands-on practice and showcase brilliant projects in all areas of STEM. Teams need to focus on the theme of each competition, carry out the projects through software programming and hardware construction, and display the projects to others via online. With the features of low entry-level and flexible forms, Spark not only inspires young people’s creativity but also provides them with the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills and build their confidence through project-based learning.

MakeX Spark focuses on interdisciplinary learning, emphasize the interconnectedness of theoretical knowledge and the real world, and encourage contestants to take the initiative to understand the real problems and try to solve problems in different ways. The following is the recommended procedure. Each contestant should get adequate preparation and in-depth exploration, fully investigate the background or real situation of the problem, collect information, generate and test possible solutions, analysis and evaluate results. Students need to use mBlock programming software and some hardware to complete a project based on the theme of Housework Helper. Once the project is ready, students need to present projects through videos, pictures, poster etc. The top five (5) students will receive the invitation to the 2021 MakeX World Championship which is a in-person event.
