Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement. Since then, over a quarter of a million students have taken part in the event.

Governor’s Cup consists of eight events:

Governor’s Cup Calendar 2020

Elementary - Deadline for Entering Student Names Online: Monday, January 27
Middle Grades - Deadline for Entering Student Names Online: Wednesday, January 8
High School - Deadline for Entering Student Names Online: Wednesday, January 15

Students take part in a variety of academic challenges including written assessments, writing, recall, and problem solving programs.

Students are scored based on their performance in each of the 8 areas of the cup.

Eligibility:
In the Elementary (Grade 5 and below) division, students take part in a District and Regional competition. The Middle Grades (6-8) and High School (9-12) divisions include a District, Regional and State competition. Membership fees are $245 in the Elementary division, and $350 in the Middle Grades and High School divisions.
