Students and small business owners in Connecticut with a food-related business may apply and compete to win funding for their business.
After registering, participants submit a business plan. Finalists are invited to participate in live finals, where they will have a table to present their business to the judges.
Semifinal (online) Questions (limit 1,500 characters per answer):
- PRODUCT OR SERVICE brief description (8 words or less)
- COMPETITION. Important competitors, their strengths and weaknesses and how you will compete.
- CUSTOMER VALIDATION. Research that shows enough people will buy your product to earn a profit
- MANAGEMENT: Training and relevant experience
- FOOD SAFETY: How do you plan to manufacture and delivery the food to customers safely and in keeping with food production or food service regulations?
- MARGINS: How much you will sell for and what it will cost to make. (If multiple items, use an average.)
- CAPITAL. How much do you need to start (or expand business to next level), and how will you use funds?
