The Electric Propulsion Innovation Challenge (EPIC) provides an authentic, hands-on aerospace design challenge for students in middle school and high school. The framework of each game is always the same- to design, build and fly a small electric airplane. With the introduction of each new game, the design goal changes, allowing students to participate in EPIC for all 7 years that they are eligible (grades 6-12). For more information, visit https://www.epicstemchallenge.com/about-epic.
We recognize Academic Awards for both Middle School and High School. Prizes range from $25-$100 per student. We also recognize a Spirit Award ($50 per teammate) and a Display Board Award ($50 per teammate).
Competition Process
Teams consist of up to 3 members who work together to design, build and fly a small electric airplane that will be the most successful in playing our annual game. To learn more about this year's game, visit https://www.epicstemchallenge.com/fly-offs/game-rules. Each team is responsible for designing, building and flying their own small electric airplane that adheres to that year's game rules. In addition, each team is responsible for completing a Display Board that documents their work throughout the project.Judging Criteria
