The US Academic Bee and Bowl are academic quiz competitions for students in 8th grade and younger that take place throughout the USA. The Bee is an individual tournament while the Bowl is a team based tournament. They are designed to promote the growth of and participation in academic competitions among elementary and middle school students. The competitions both reward classroom learning and encourage students to explore other subjects and fields of study that are new to them.

Students participate either individually (for the Bee) or on teams (for the Bowl). They are all-subject buzzer-based academic quiz competitions for middle and elementary school quiz bowl teams with students in 8th grade and younger throughout the USA. Regional competitions take place between January and April. These are open to any teams or individuals up through 8th grade, including homeschoolers; school approval is not needed. Teams who finish in the top 50% or higher of students at their regional level competition (or at any team-based academic quiz competition using a buzzer system and paragraph length questions) are then welcome to join us for the third National Championships of the US Academic Bowl in the spring.

Teams are scored based on points for correct answers during tournament matches. The teams continue through a pyramidal tournament bracket to reach the top.
