Emirates Score Plus invites Cycle – 3 students of UAE to enhance their skills in Numeracy through a series of competitions namely, EMath3Challenge. To celebrate the International Math Day on March 14th and to enhance the critical & creative thinking skills of students, 𝛑-RATERS (MATH GAME CREATION) Competition has been designed. Students will create a game that relates to one of the Math concepts they have learned during the academic year and which will enable re-teaching or reinforcing the same for those who play.

By participating in this competition, students will challenge themselves to sharpen the following skills:

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Problem Solving
  • Critical Thinking
  • Creative Thinking

Important stages in the competition are:

  • Registration – Individual students or schools can register (16th November 2021)
  • Completion of the game creation and preparation of a presentation in the form of a ppt/document (a video of the model should be linked on the ppt).
  • Submission – Each student has to submit through the competition portal by 15th January 2022.
  • Evaluation based on the presentation and the model submitted will be completed by 12th February 2022 by individual schools. (First Qualifying Round).
  • One best entry will be submitted by the individual schools on 12th February 2022 for the next round.
  • The submitted entries will be evaluated and 10 students will be shortlisted by the panel of Judges by 7th March 2022. (Second Round)
  • Question Round for the selected competitors, with the Judges, for choosing the Final Winners will be completed on 14th March 2022. (Final Round)

Name: Give the game a fun, creative name.

Theme: Create a theme for the game and carry the theme throughout.

Game Concept: The game should reinforce a concept learned in Math so far this school year. The game should carry the math concept chosen throughout the length of play. It should help the players grasp a better understanding of the concept and give them enough confidence to feel that they have mastered the skill taught by the end of the game.

Game Directions: Following directions for the players should be mentioned clearly:

  • Step by Step, instructions on how to play the game.
  • Number of Players
  • Materials Needed
  • Goal of the Game – the objective of the game
  • Step by Step instructions INCLUDING how a player or team wins
  • Answer Key

Game pieces: Choose or create the game pieces matching the theme.

Rules for the competition

  • Only Individual entries are allowed.
  • Duration of the entire presentation : 3-5 minutes
  • Prepare a PowerPoint/document presentation of the game including a short video of the model.
  • Participants should be able to explain the rules of the Game on the day of the competition.
  • Participants will be having a β€˜Question Round’ of 1 minute with a panel of judges, to decide the winning positions.
