The FBLA National Awards Program, also known as competitive events, recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. FBLA competitive events also prepare students for successful careers in business by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment.

At the State Leadership Conferences, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer. States may modify the events offered at the district/region and state level. Always check your state guidelines if competing at the district/region and/or state level competition. Each event is governed by specific guidelines and rating sheets. Once you choose an event, please review the guidelines closely.Competitors can choose to compete in individual events, as part of a team, or as part of a chapter team:

  • Individual
  • Team
  • Chapter
There are also events specifically for high school students in grades 9-10. Individual and team events focus on skills useful in leadership and career development; chapter events recognize overall achievement and performance in chapter management and growth.

Each event has its own rating sheet upon which participants are scored. See the specific category for the criteria.
