A Constitution Bee is a constitutional study course – complete with videos, review lessons, quizzes and a final, online exam where participants compete with their peers to earn cash prizes. A Bee is not a single event nor is it a single Bee. There will be an entire series of Bees when all is said and done. We are hoping to have Constitution Bee I all the way through Constitution Bee XII rolled out over a 6 year period.
Each Bee is designed as an online test taken at home on your computer. Each will be based on a video series and a particular topic (Constitution Bee I was based on a video series entitled, “Five Clauses Everyone Should Know”). The videos are designed to get children and their parents talking about the principles of freedom. Parents will quiz youth and youth will quiz parents and together they’ll reignite the flame of freedom. Each Constitution Bee offers youth in 5 different age groups the opportunity to compete for 15 cash prizes worth a total of over $6,000! Not everyone will win the money, but everyone who learns and understands the principles of freedom in the Constitution will gain something much more valuable than money. They will gain knowledge!
Each Bee will emphasize how the Constitution applies to our everyday lives and will utilize word plays, analogies, activities and interactive games to instill in youth the simple, yet powerful foundational principles of freedom that will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
There will be only one Bee that is featured at any given point in time. Being “featured” means the Bee is the newest Bee that is either in production or that has been rolled out. Registered participants study the videos and take the quizzes in order to prepare for the final, online Bee where they login once during a specified week and take the exam. (For example, Constitution Bee I was the featured bee in late 2015 and early 2016. Participants registered any time during the six months and downloaded or viewed the videos and took the accompanying quizzes for each segment. Then, they logged in once during the week of April 18-23, 2016 and took the final, online Bee (test) and were awarded cash prizes according to how well they scored in their respective age groups.) The current featured Bee is Constitution Bee II. Its videos and quizzes are currently in production and will hopefully roll out in late fall/winter.
Students and parents quiz each other on constitutional questions found in an online format. The students then will take quizzes online during a specified week for the final scores to win prizes and awards.
