Creative Competitions Accepting Winter and Spring Registrations

With the holiday season upon us and the end of the year near, many people might think that it's too late to get involved in academic competitions for the 2018-19 season. Although some of the big programs do require students to get involved early, there are many creative contests and competitions that have registration deadlines throughout the winter and spring. In this list, we gathered 10 creative opportunities for your students to submit artwork, essays, videos, and more that have registrations in the winner and spring seasons. This is by no means a comprehensive list, and always make sure that you double check registration deadlines with the competition managers themselves.
Here are some good opportunities to get your students started in academic competitions in the winter or spring:
World of 7 Billion Student Video Contest
Students can submit their videos on any of three topics: preserving biodiversity, sustainable resource use, or Protecting Human Rights. Submissions are due February 28th, 2019
Nicodemus Wilderness Project Apprentice Ecologist Awards - students conduct an environmental project and document it in photos and a video. Submission deadline is december 31st, 2018.
C-Span Student Cam - students create a documentary video related to the governmental theme. Videos must be uploaded January 31st, 2019.
ExploraVision - students envision a future technology and create a project report about it. Submissions due February 8th, 2019.
Davidson Fellows - students must complete a significant piece of work in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy or Outside the Box. Submissions are due February 13th, 2019
We the Students Essay Competition - Creative writing opportunity for students to submit articles related to the bill of rights. Submissions due February 14th, 2019.
Combining Voices Literary Competition - students write literary responses to pieces in the Morris Museum (available nationwide). Submissions due on March 20, 2019.
JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest - students write their own creative essay describing their vision of political courage. Submissions due Jan 18th, 2019.
High School Physics Photo Contest - students can take their own photo of a physical phenomenon and submit it. Photo submissions are due May 15th, 2019.
Faulkner Wisdom Creative Writing Contest - opportunity for high school students to submit literary works. Submissions are due May 15th, 2019.
